 3 Syntax as a command:  motd

 6 Function:  invokes the Multics qedx editor to edit the file
 7 message_of_the_day, which most (but not all) users print out
 8 automatically when they log in.  This command can be used in ring 4
 9 only.

12 Notes:  When you type

16 the system puts you in qedx edit mode, where you may enter editing
17 requests.  Some of the valid requests are

19       a  to enter input mode
20       d  to delete a line
21       s  to change a line
22       p  to print the current line
23       \f to exit from input mode and return to edit mode
24       w  to write the edited message
25       q  to exit from qedx and return to command level

28 There are many other requests, and options for these requests.  See the
29 description of the qedx command in the Multics Commands and Active
30 Functions manual, Order No. AG92, for complete information.  Note that
31 the e request is not permitted.  An error message is typed if the e
32 request is used.
